Andrea Stašková – Sklo

Technically speaking, fusing is a technique whereby differently cut and chipped pieces of colorful glass are melted together. I manipulate the melted glass into colorful motifs and shapes which express emotions. My glass creations attempt to balance color and décor elements through shape and texture. Glass creations are not only pleasing to the eye, but to the touch as well. Whether I’m creating geometrically clean lines or the shapes flow into themselves the result is always the same, yet different: unique glass creation that are like a three-dimensional painting. Light is, of course, the unseen assistant to a glassworks artisan. I use light during the colouring and the moulding of my glassworks in order to complete the thoughts and feelings that I want them to express. Paintings can’t express translucent color, whereas glass can. Therefore, “I shape light.”
